Description

The Family Remains weaves a gripping tale of mystery and intrigue set against the backdrop of a chilling crime from the past. This narrative unfolds in June 2019 when human bones are discovered on the foreshore of the River Thames. DCI Samuel Owusu is called to investigate and soon unearths that the remains belong to a young woman, a victim of a murder that occurred decades ago.

The Plot

As Owusu delves deeper into the case, his investigation leads him to a grand Chelsea mansion, a site linked to a notorious crime that rocked the community nearly thirty years prior, where three lives were tragically lost and a baby left abandoned. The story intricately explores the themes of familial bonds, the weight of history, and the shadows that linger from unresolved tragedies.

The narrative is rich with complex characters, each grappling with their own secrets and the repercussions of the past. As the present intertwines with the remnants of history, readers are invited to ponder how the echoes of former lives shape current realities.

Themes

  • The impact of unresolved trauma
  • The nature of familial relationships
  • The quest for truth amidst deception
“An exploration of how the past can haunt the present, leaving indelible marks on those who seek to uncover its truths.”

Fans of psychological thrillers and crime fiction, such as Paula Hawkins and Gillian Flynn, will find The Family Remains a compelling addition to their reading list, combining atmospheric writing with a labyrinthine plot that keeps the reader guessing until the very end.
